Die Türkei verfügt über 450 Tausend Hektar Rebfläche und ist somit innerhalb Europas das viertgrößte Europaweit und weltweit das fünftgrößte Weinanbauland. Die Rebfläche der Türkei ist beinahe fünf mal so groß, wie die Deutschlands.

Die Weintraube gedeiht am besten  zwischen den 30. und 50. Breitegrad in der nördlichen und südlichen Halbkugel.
